Stamping and deep drawing: the lubricant's role in part quality

In stamping and deep drawing, the metal flows under very high pressure between the sheet and the tool. Without the right lubricant, excessive friction, sheet rupture, wrinkles, marks and premature tooling wear appear. The forming lubricant has the function of separating the surfaces, distributing the pressure and allowing the material to flow without tearing.

The choice varies with the severity of the forming and the metal. Deep drawing calls for high-performance lubricants, often in the form of a paste-like inverted emulsion that sustains the film under extreme pressure. Non-ferrous metals and silicon sheets for electric motors call for full synthetic oils that ensure a fine finish and do not stain the part.

JEFLUB's Lubriform line covers from stamping to deep drawing, with water-soluble and full synthetic options. Send the material, thickness and depth of the forming and we will indicate the lubricant that protects the tool and delivers the part at the right quality.
