Temporary corrosion protection: how to choose the right protective
Corrosion starts minutes after machining, when the clean part is exposed to air moisture. Temporary protection creates a barrier until use, assembly or sale. The choice of protective depends on two variables: the desired protection time and the aggressiveness of the environment (indoor, outdoor, transport or export with salt spray).
For short-term indoor storage, a thin drying film already solves it and is easy to remove. For transport and outdoor storage, medium films offer more barrier. For maritime export and coastal environments, thicker films with high salt-spray resistance are indispensable. Drying protectives have the advantage of leaving the part dry to the touch, without soiling handling.
JEFLUB's Ultra DW line covers this range, from thin to thick film, and DEPROT 800 handles temporary protection between process stages. Tell us the storage time and the destination of the parts and we will indicate the protective with the most economical protection-to-consumption ratio.
